Well, this week was pretty much amazing. I'm finally here, I never though I’d make it, I thought it wouldent happen, and before a few months ago I never would have even seen this coming, but now I'm here, and just walking around in a different temperature is a dream (not to mention everything else). Well, my first class was Drawing 1: figure and Gen... with professor James L. McElhinney. He's a pretty straightforward guy, very concise and to the point. It was funny though, the first half of the class he did with his fly open, so it was a kind of Larry David moment. Soon followed by another davidesque moment, where as soon as we got the materials, a woman steps in and undresses in front of the class. Now, I was not expecting to go begin right there, but well, there it was. It was a cool class, the professor ripped some of the people’s papers (luckily not mine) and at some point he actually complemented my work, saying something like "that looks very good". Our HW is to draw for 6 hours, a figure inside some space. Those are the directions (cool, right?). Then I had a pretty standard English 101 at around 5. That was Monday; Tuesday I took Video 1 with professor Jim Supanick. Very nice guy and I'm very excited for the class. We have to buy a hard drive, and we watched a documentary called The Gleaners and I. It was a very cool doc. kind of in what I thought was Train of Thought format. I have to do a 2-page response for next Tuesday on The Gleaners and I. Then at around 5 I took Photography 1, with professor Peter Kayafas. He's a very nice guy, has a good sense of humor. I didn’t think I was going to take photography, but I’m really happy I did, it's going to be a very productive class, as far the syllabus shows. I have to take 72 photos (he gave me directions to cool places, dense with activity) by next Tuesday. Time square sounds like fun at lunch time . Dad's sending me his Nikon f3hp (fuckin p.i.m.p), much more torque than I need for this class. Wednesday I took Light, Color and Design with professor Alice Zinnes, she looks like and ex-hippy, a very nice woman, she's like a little firecracker. Very cool and she gives very helpful hints. The class was amazing, and I really want to juice this one, I'm glad it's foundation. I have to finish a randomly generated color grid (with title), do a 3x5 color pencil drawing (using only red, yellow and blue), and also do three separate drawings of the same leaves at 3 different times of day (also using only red, yellow and blue). Sounds like a lot, but a lot of fun. Then again I took the pretty standard English class, and I made a friend called Eric, real nice guy, just came from South Korea. Then on Thursday I took the Survey of Art class (history of art) at 10, but since professor Gayle Rodda Kurtz has some kind of family problem, his TA took over, saying that Kurtz has also arranged for a substitute for next weeks class. So Kurtz will either be banged up emotionally or physically, but whatever it is, it's probably not good for us. We left early, the class also sounds pretty juicy, and we have some reading for next week, so I have to buy the book. The camera should be here tomorrow, I got to buy some film and materials. My future looks expensive. Oh well…
